Prostate Cancer Screening

01 September 2020

The National Screening Committee (NSC) Report claims that there is still insufficient evidence to recommend mass screening with PSA.  CHAPS, the National Federation of Prostate Cancer Support Groups and the men’s cancer charity ORCHID have submitted a critical Response.  The NSC Report has based its conclusion on outdated, flawed and inadequate data that is completely out of touch with current UK clinical practice.
The NSC will deliver its conclusions in December but if they remain the same, it is unlikely the NHS will do anything further in screening terms to stem the rising tide of over 12,000 UK Prostate Cancer deaths each year – more deaths than from breast cancer!
